We all scream for ice cream

Ice cream is a big time favorite in the P household. BIG TIME. We love ice cream. All flavors. All kinds. When we moved into our new town last fall we were delighted to find out that there are four ice cream shops nearby – three mom and pop shops and a Dairy Queen. We were quite deflated when we found out that the Dairy Queen is seasonal. It closed in October, but thankfully, it’s back open now!  We have frequented two of the four ice cream shops in the past week. It’s ice cream season for sure.
We were all just minding our own business on a quiet Sunday afternoon, with the windows wide open because it was a beautiful day. What’s that?  What’s that noise?  What’s that beautiful music we hear?! It’s an ICE CREAM TRUCK in our neighborhood!! We were jumping up and down for joy. We frantically rounded up all the change we could find and sent the girls out to get their goodies.
We’ve never had treats from an ice cream truck because we lived on a super busy street before. Our new neighborhood is a cul-de-sac street! Perfect for ice cream trucks!  In fact the ice cream truck man told us he’d come back frequently this summer!  HOOORAY!  Honestly I think my husband and I were just as excited (and maybe a little more) than the girls were!
They are patiently waiting across the street for the ice cream truck to turn around at the end of the street and come back.

Glorious glorious ICE CREAM!

We’ve been having some wonderful weather around here. I hope it stays! We bought the girls new shorts and new flippy floppies this weekend because they’ve both shot up like weeds since last summer and outgrew their old summer clothes. Probably from eating lots of ice cream!!

Scribble Shop Craft Challenge!

I was chosen to participate in the Scribble Shop Craft Challenge. Yay!  The premise: I get a free box of craft supplies and I have to make something out of the supplies!
I got my box of goods about two weeks ago:

P family portraits awwwwww!

Awww, aren’t we cute?! I think we are cute but I’m biased.

Our shoes!

This is such a sweet pose.

I really like this one of Mike and I!!
THIS picture CRACKS ME UP! We all have half-smiles on our faces but LYDIA is all out smiles! Her smile and the way she’s holding her hands cracks me UP! Arlene looks really enthused doesn’t she? HA!
Many thanks to my cousin Leah for taking these photos of us!

Good Winter

One of my favorite bands of all time is Bon Iver. I was super excited when they were on Saturday Night Live awhile ago and quite excited when they won a Grammy. Very well deserved praise.

My favorite song from their latest (2011) album is Holocene:

I can’t decipher many of the words in the song, but I still really love it. In fact I can’t really decipher the majority of their lyrics, but I think that’s part of the reason why I like their music so much.
Do yourself a musical favor and check out their albums, Bon Iver and For Emma Forever Ago
The video for their song Towers is beautiful:

10 things about me

There’s a “10 Things About Me” thingie going around the blogs right now and I was tagged by Sarah, so it’s my turn, so here you go!
#1 a picture of me
Me, with my daughter Arlene, at a chili joint.
#2, 10 Random Things About Me:
1. I am an impatient person.
2. I can’t ever paint my nails up to my standards and nine times out of 10 I end up taking the polish off right after I paint. Except, yesterday, I painted my nails and I still have the polish on. Progress!
3. I am working on a cute tutorial which I will post on my blog soon.
4. Our girls’ personalities are blossoming and my husband and I are continually surprised with what they come up with and say and do.
5. I was offered a trip to Target last night and I declined. What is WRONG with me?!
6. I turn 34 in 25 days.
7. I overslept slightly this morning.

8. I want to sew a quilt.
9. I thought winter was over but there was snow on the ground this morning but I didn’t mind because it meant I got to wear my cool winter boots at least one more time.
10. My husband made the best stuffed green peppers for dinner last night.

#3 Answer questions from Sarah:
1. What was the first album you ever purchased (vinyl, tape, or cd)? I cannot remember exactly but my guess is the Smashing Pumpkins.

2. What was the first accessory you bought with your own money? Hair clips.
3. Favorite gift you’ve ever received? Well that’s a toughie. I’m not really sure. My husband used to write me little poems and I always really loved getting them. So I guess that’s my answer: poems.
4. The coolest person you’ve ever met? My husband; before he was my husband he was a boy who was bothering me when I was working the counter at the thrift store. He wouldn’t leave me alone. He kept asking me if I had any rope that he could use to tie his couch to his car. I didn’t have any rope. He was annoying at first, but after that first incident I thought he was cool.
5. The item in your home with the most sentimental value? When we moved into our new house my dad gifted us with a painting of our house.
6. The grossest thing in your refrigerator right now? My husband’s hummus dip.
7. Something you always purchase at the grocery store? Coffee creamer.
8. One thing you hope to accomplish this year. I’m undergoing an Operation Social Wendy project. I am trying to branch out socially.
9. Your current favorite song. Anything by Bon Iver.
10. What we’d eat together if I showed up on your door step today. Blueberry scones.
